It’s the time of year when we start to think about
fresh starts, making New Year’s resolutions and
taking stock of the year that has passed and how
we want to do this year di erently.
Every year I say the same thing – I will use up my
stash, I will use up my scraps and I will only buy
fabric when I need it. Then I get over excited by
all of the shiny new things, and I still have bundles
of fabric I bought years ago, sat unused, still with
the ribbon around them on the shelf in my sewing
room. Quilt Market in Houston doesn’t help with this
predicament. Nicole took a trip for us and reports
back with her findings and hot tips on what to look
out for in 2015.
It might be chilly and wintry outside, but we’re
looking forward to spring, with an influence of the
English country garden in this issue. Even when it’s
cold and grey outside, you can’t deny that the UK is
a beautiful little corner of the world and we should
celebrate our lush countryside with projects such as
Nicholas’s improv-pieced borders quilt.
We have two quilts made with lawn instead of regular
quilting cotton. They’re addictive once you give it a
try, and so unbelievably soft that you might never
want to use anything else afterwards!
