Welcome
What a busy month it's been and what a very busy
month we have coming up. I made the long journey
up to Glasgow for Scotland's first ever hosting of The
Allergy & Free From Show. To be honest, I didn't
know what to expect, but when the doors opened at
10am on the Saturday morning it quickly became
clear – the place was packed. I know we don't wish for
these intolerances we have, but it's great that these
shows (and markets, restaurants, delis, shops etc)
are popping up with more regularity and catering for all our needs. It may
have been the first show in Scotland – it certainly won't be the last.
So what does May hold? Well, to start with, from Monday 9th to
Sunday 15th it's Coeliac Awareness Week and this again brings more
exposure, knowledge, understanding and, if you head over to our Facebook
page (www.facebook.com/FreeFromHeaven),
a fantasic giveaway each
day featuring goodies from the likes of Pizza Express, Pho Restaurants,
Nature's Path, Knorr, Dr Schär, Morrisons and Hollows and Fentimans.
At the end of the month we will be heading to London to the Free From
Food Awards. As a judge this year in a couple of categories, it was again
incredible to see the many new producers out there but, more importantly,
the true quality of the produce that was there to be judged. I think the free-
from world is in good shape at the moment, especially as it is still in the
infancy of what seems to be an exponential climb. See you next month!
