Appliqué
1.
Sew heart pieces together.
2.
Press seams open and stitch along
each seam on the right side with a
decorative stitch.
3.
Stitch to object as instructed, using
a satin stitch with 2–3mm-wide short
stitch length.
Note:
Pivot needle as
needed on outer curves of the heart.
4.
Frame satin stitches with a
decorative stitch.
Hanging Loop
1.
Press 2 x 10-inch piece for loops in
half, wrong sides together, with long
edges matching.
2.
Open strip and press long edges
to center fold. Stitch along both
long edges.
3.
Cut length in half to make two
5-inch lengths. Fold each length in half
with ends together. Set loops aside.
Dish Towel Assembly
1.
Narrow-hem all four sides
of dish towel.
2.
Sew crochet lace trim across
lower edge.
3.
Sew a decorative stitch across lower
edge above lace trim.
4.
Fuse heart appliqué in place. Stitch
around outer raw edges (see Appliqué
instructions).

Cutting
Enlarge patterns for pot holder, mitt
front and mitt back 400 percent.
From solid fabric:
• Cut one 28 x 19-inch piece
for dish towel.
• Cut one 12 x 14-inch piece
for mitt band.
From quilted cotton fabric:
• Use pattern to cut one pot
holder top.
• Use patterns to cut one mitt front
and one mitt back.
From quilted Teflon fabric:
• Use pattern to cut one mitt pad.
• Use pattern to cut one pot
holder bottom.
From print fabric:
• Cut one 2
1/2
x 34-inch strip for pot
holder bias binding.
Note:
For added
interest, cut strips from more than one
print and piece them before binding
pot holder.
• Cut one 2 x 10-inch piece for loops
on mitt and pot holder.
• Apply fusible web to scraps. Use
patterns to cut one each A, B and
C piece for each heart appliqué,
mixing and matching fabrics
as desired.

Use

-inch-wide seam allowance.
1.
Fuse appliqué to pot holder top.
Stitch around outer raw edges (see
Appliqué instructions).
2.
Pin ends of loop to pot holder top at
upper corner with raw edges even.
3.
Baste pot holder top and pot holder
bottom with wrong sides together.
4.
Finish edges with bias binding.
oven Mitt
Use
1/4
-inch-wide seam allowance
unless otherwise stated.
1.
Fuse appliqué to oven mitt front.
Stitch around outer raw edges (see
Appliqué instructions).
2.
Pin ends of loop to mitt front as
indicated on pattern, having raw
edges even.
3.
With right sides together and loop
sandwiched between, sew both edges
of mitt front and mitt back together
between dots.
4.
With right sides together, baste
mitt pad to mitt front and mitt back.
Machine-stitch around edges of
mitt pad.
5.
Baste crochet lace trim to one long
edge of mitt band. Stitch short edges
of mitt band together using
1/2
-inch-
wide seam allowance. Press seam.
6.
Fold band in half with wrong sides
together. Stitch raw edges of band to
raw edges of mitt, making sure lace
trim is next to outside of mitt.
7.
Turn folded edge of band to inside
of mitt and hand- or machine-stitch to
seam line.
