“Atomkraft? Nein, Danke!” Next
time, hopefully.
Talking of live events, did you
catch the recent Blancmange/
Heaven 17 double-header? The
whole thing was actually dreamed
up at our Synthpop Summit back
in March. Issue 10’s round-table
was the first time Glenn Gregory
and Neil Arthur had sat down for
a cup of tea and a proper chat
in years. They’d played a one-off
date together in 2011 but, as
everyone was heading home that
day, there were firm handshakes
between the two and much talk
of “we must try and do a project
together some day”.
I wonder what other interesting
collabs we can subtly engineer
and play matchmaker on in
2015? A fully-reformed Thompson
Twins, complete with original
backing vocalist Grace Jones
and keyboardist Thomas Dolby?
Or how about a live debut from
The League Unlimited Orchestra,
featuring all members of The
Human League, past to present?
What, come to think of it, would
be your dream collaboration or
live reformation? The one for
which you’d still want to wear the
T-shirt in 30 years’ time?
