Bowls is a popular sport in Great Britain with older
people. These are the rules.
• You have to wear a white uniform with white shoes.
• You can play bowls inside or outside. Both men and
women can play it. You have to hold the ball and
then roll it towards a small white ball at the end of
the green. This small ball is called the ‘jack’. You can’t
kick the ball, drop it or throw it.
• To score points, your ball has to be nearer the ‘jack’
than the other balls. You can roll your ball and hit
the other balls away from the ‘jack’.
